A large consignment of meat products that traveled to the Russian Federation from China was detained in time by the valiant employees of the Rosselkhoznadzor.

The detention turned out to be crucial - experts from the supervisory authority did not allow sausages affected by the African swine fever genome to enter the diet of Russian consumers.

It is reported that the Rosselkhoznadzor stopped the Chinese cargo at the Zabaykalsk checkpoint. During the verification of the documents of drivers of vehicles and cargo, it turned out that sausages made in the People's Republic of China were sent to Russian outlets without accompanying certificates of compliance with veterinary and sanitary requirements.

It is noteworthy that samples are taken at Russian checkpoints as part of the All-Russian program for the epizootic monitoring of African swine fever. In this regard, samples of products that were transported to Russia from China were selected.

In the course of laboratory studies, it was possible to establish that genetic material of ASF is present in Chinese-made sausages. The cargo with sausages was immediately sent to specialized sites for the destruction and disposal of contaminated and potentially dangerous food.
