The number of goats and sheep at the beginning of June 2019 of the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Olga Trofimtseva.

At the same time, 14 pedigree plants and 22 pedigree reproducers that breed 14 breeds and types of sheep are included in the State Register of subjects of breeding in livestock.

“There are also 8 pedigree reproducers that breed 3 goats,” said the chairman of the agrarian department. At the beginning of the year, the number of breeding stock of sheep was 23.7 thousand heads, goats - 2 thousand. In addition, Olga Trofimtseva noted that in Ukraine there are now more than 200 craft cheese factories.

It was previously reported that when monitoring the number of goats since 2015, one can notice a tendency to a gradual reduction in the number of livestock in private households of citizens and the same gradual increase in the number of livestock in agricultural enterprises of the country.

Earlier, Olga Trofimtseva has already said that state support for goats breeders under the existing programs is insufficient. Goats need to be included in the list of state subsidies.

After the approval of these changes, goat owners will be able to receive support from the state for the acquisition of these animals, including their brood stock.
