Forest blueberries in the Ukrainian markets in the first week of its collection fell by almost 1.7 times. For the past three years in a row, the cost of this berry has remained the same - 60-65 UAH / kg, as reported by Info-Shuvar analysts.
This year, the first blueberries entered the Ukrainian market later than in 2018, and prices at the beginning of the season were on average 15-20% higher.
But in a few days the supply of wild berry reached the performance of the past years and its price, accordingly, immediately fell to the level of 2018, dropping from 100 UAH / kg (3.3 euros / kg) to 60 UAH / kg (2 euro / kg )
Blueberries occupy a major export position in the list of frozen berries in Ukraine; it accounts for 40% of all berries export. Basically, it is collected in forests in Western Ukraine. Active harvesting of forest blueberries by the population and processing enterprises begins in the first half of July, when the offer on the market is the largest.
Earlier it was reported that in the village of Velikiye Luchki, Transcarpathian region, BlueBerry grows 100 hectares of blueberries. In the spring of this year, the farm was preparing to plant seedlings of a unique variety of blueberries called Liberty with improved taste and lightness.
The company already has GlobalGAP international quality certificate, which testifies to the safety of the food product. And recently, “BlueBerry” received a Halal certificate, which opens up the possibility of exporting Transcarpathian berries to Muslim countries.
