Already at the end of this month this year, all dairy products in the country will significantly rise in price, said Ivan Tomich, president of the Association of Farmers and Private Land Owners of Ukraine.
The livestock industry in Ukraine is currently experiencing a large-scale crisis. The situation is not the best in pig breeding, where the livestock has decreased by 40% over the past five years.
The problems of the pig industry negatively affect the production of dairy and meat products. Due to the high cost of animal products, not all people can afford to buy them. As a result, every citizen of the country is malnourished, said Ivan Tomich. It is the problems in the livestock industry that will trigger a rise in prices for dairy products, the expert predicts. A sharp rise in price by at least 10% is expected at the end of April this year. Another jump in prices may happen this fall.
In October and November, prices for milk can rise by 20%, summed up Ivan Tomich. Earlier it was reported that the number of meat cows in Ukraine is 1.3% of the total. And meat production in this segment is derived from dairy.
