On April 22 of this year, mass flight was observed in the Poltava fields, as well as the settlement of sugar beet crops with ordinary beet weevil, the State Food and Drug Administration in the Poltava region said.
The pests are in good physiological condition, females are the largest number in the population, experts say.
According to the Poltava Regional Center for Hydrometeorology, the temperature of the soil surface on some days was about 39-42 ° C, while the mass release and flight of the pest occurs even at an air temperature of 15–20 ° C, and on the soil surface 25–35 ° C.To combat the weevil, it is necessary to dig the fields where the beets grow, by trapping grooves and decompose the poisoned baits. With an EPI of the usual beet weevil 0.2–0.3 ind./ m², the field must be treated with the permitted chemical plant protection products.
You can cultivate the field only in calm, calm weather. No less than two days in advance, it is necessary to warn about the future chemical treatment of plants by the chairmen of village and village councils, villagers and beekeepers. Treated areas must be marked with warning signs.
