The share of organic farming in Bavaria is growing every year.
Minister of Agriculture Kaniber congratulated Monica and Thomas Schrobenhauser on the fact that their farm has become Bavaria’s ten thousandth organic farm.
“The transition to organic agriculture is not only an important step in the future for your company, but also an important milestone in the development of organic agriculture in Bavaria,” the minister said.
Organic farms currently cultivate about 350 thousand hectares, which is about 11% of the agricultural area. In the next ten years, the minister wants to increase this share to 30%.
“We can achieve this ambitious goal only if the market develops together and, above all, consumers are involved,” Kaniber explained. For this reason, the Minister places emphasis on the further development of organic farming, in particular on strengthening sales and demand.
“If public awareness of the achievements of organic agriculture continues to grow, and consumers also take appropriate products, the planned tripling of the Bavarian eco-zone can be successful without distorting the market,” the minister said.
