This year's Best Organic Farmer Award, awarded by the Soil Association charity, received a farming couple, Joe and Tim Badden, from Higher Hacknell Farm, in Devon County, southwest England.
Winners in the Best of Organic Market (BOOM) nomination were announced at a ceremony in London in the evening of June 26. The Soil Association also hosted awards for organic brands, products and people recognized as the best in their field.
The winners couple run a mixed 350-acre farm with cattle, sheep, crops, poultry and a cider garden.
Among other achievements, Joe and Tim Badden received their award for being "unsurpassed" and their farm "not only a haven for wildlife, but also a thriving business."
Liz Bowles, deputy director of agriculture at the Soil Association, said the highest-honored family farming couple was honored for their “longstanding dedication” to mixed organic farming.
“Joe and Tim are traditional family farmers who work in harmony with nature,” said Liz Bowles.
