The Epicenter K group of companies has adjusted the structure of sunflower crop rotation in the direction of increasing the crops of monounsaturated high oleic hybrid.
In 2019, they will make up 62% of the total area allocated for sunflower cultivation at the company's enterprises, the company said.
Now in Ukraine, the sowing structure of most domestic agricultural enterprises includes a 5% share of high oleic sunflower, while in hybrids in France these hybrids account for 63-65%.
Taking into account the current market demand for high oleic seeds at pharmaceutical and confectionery enterprises that are willing to pay well for the goods, the company decided to expand the sown area of high oleic sunflower, the head of the agricultural division Epicenter K Vasily Moroz said.
The Epicenter K company does not export these seeds on its own, however they are used in value-added products sold by processors abroad.
For information, the Kherson company Agromir is successfully engaged in the cultivation of high oleic sunflower in Ukraine. It cultivates about 1460 hectares of land in the Kherson region. For several consecutive years, 1⁄4 of all land has been allocated for high oleic sunflower, which is 320-400 ha, depending on weather conditions.
