In Zaporozhye, according to the results of spring soil surveys of fields for sowing cultivated crops, especially sunflower, an increased harmfulness of a complex of pests is predicted - caterpillars of a biting scoop, wireworm, lard, and weevils, reports the Main Department of State Food and Beverage Service in the Zaporizhzhya region.
To prevent damage to crops, the department recommends:- carry out pre-sowing treatment of seeds with insecticidal etchants with a long period of protection;
- when seedlings appear, conduct continuous monitoring of crops and, if necessary, carry out protective measures.
The economic threshold for harmfulness for these types of pests is 2 ind./ m². When seed dressing and protective measures are applied, pesticides are used according to the “List of pesticides and agrochemicals approved for use in Ukraine”, subject to the regulations for their use.
During protective measures it is necessary to comply with safety regulations and be guided by the State Sanitary Rules of Particle Board 8.8.1.2.001-98 “Transportation, Storage and Use of Pesticides in the National Economy”.
