Jambo Pink tulips must be taken care of throughout the growing season. Watering and feeding are the main care procedures. You should also regularly loosen the soil, remove weeds.
Did you know? Tulips were brought to Russia by order of Peter I. It was he who created the company, which was engaged in the supply of these plants from the Netherlands.
Landing rules
It is necessary to start planting tulips of the Jumbo Pink variety when the soil cools to a temperature of + 9 ° C. In the middle lane, planting is carried out in mid-September. Try to immerse tulip bulbs in the soil 3 weeks before frost. This will allow planting material to take root and survive the winter well.
A week before planting, treat the bulbs with a solution of Vitaros (50 g per 10 l of water) to disinfect them
The landing site must meet the following conditions:
- Sunny side. If the plant does not have enough light, the peduncle will be bent, and the bud is too small.
- No stagnation of moisture. Otherwise, the bulbs will be affected by fungal diseases.
- Groundwater depth - at least 2 m.
- Nutritious soil. Tulips of the Jumbo Pink variety prefer to grow on light fertile soils with a neutral pH level (about 5–6).
Important! If you are going to grow flowers on clay soils, then you need to dilute them with peat or sand, in a ratio of 2: 1.
Planting depth should be 15 cm. Wells need to be dug at a distance of 10 cm from each other.
Planting technology is as follows:
- Dig a hole and pour 500 g of sand into it. It will provide drainage, as a result of which there will be no stagnation of moisture in the soil.
- Place the onion in the pit and sprinkle it with nutritious soil.
- Pour 5 liters of water into each well.
- Cover a small layer (about 8 cm) of peat so that water does not evaporate from the ground and the optimum moisture level is maintained.
The subtleties of care
Jumbo Pink tulips are unpretentious in care. Despite this, they must be properly looked after so that the buds are large and bright. Watering is carried out at intervals of 3 weeks. At least 1 liter of water must be poured onto 1 m². Carefully make sure that the earth is moistened to a depth of 20 cm, where the bulbs of the plant are located.
Top dressing is carried out several times:
- in the fall, during the digging of the site, it is necessary to water the bushes with a solution of slow-acting granules "AVA" (100 g per 20 liters of water). The entire volume of liquid must be distributed over 1 m²;
- in spring, in mid-March, distribute 1 m² superphosphate solution (40 g per 5 liters of water);
- at the end of May pour tulips with a solution of urea (100 g per 20 liters of water). The entire volume is poured onto 1 m².
To loosen the soil to a depth of 7 cm is necessary with an interval of 7-10 days. Also remove the weeds before you start feeding and watering. This will ensure that nutrients and moisture are fully absorbed into the bulbs.
At the end of August, when all the nutrients leave the leaves, you need to dig up the bulbs. Then sort them by size. This will determine which copies will be more massive and voluminous next year. Before proceeding with the storage of the bulbs, they need to be dried in wooden crates under a canopy. After that, lay the planting material in boxes in several layers, between which lay out the newspaper.
Important! Tanks must be stored in well-ventilated rooms, the temperature of which is about + 25 ° C. Inspect planting material regularly and discard rotten or weathered bulbs.
Pests and diseases
Jumbo Pink tulips are often hit by variegation. Signs of this bacterial disease are manifested in the fact that the buds are colored unevenly and gradually degenerate. Spraying with "Euporen" (30 g per 5 l of water) will help fight the disease.
Against gray rot, which manifests itself in the form of gray-yellowish spots. Treatment consists of spraying a solution of Bordeaux fluid (10 g per 10 liters of water). In the fight against fusarium, the signs of which are brown spots on the bulbs, use "Celtana" (60 g per 10 liters of water). All treatments, more precisely spraying, are carried out with an interval of 14 days.
Against root onion tick, which is considered the most common pest of tulips, it is advisable to use "Rogor" (20 g per 5 liters of water). Destroy gourd, which affects planting material, will help dusting with mothballs.
Use in landscape design
Tulips are often used in landscaping.. If you live in a country house where there is a huge free area, you can combine the Jumbo Pink variety with a clean and well-groomed lawn. Quite often, masonry or metal forged elements are placed next to this variety.
