Domestic breeds of geese, large white and large gray, are unique, but if you do not select them, you can permanently lose these breeds. Geese of these breeds are bred at the only breeding plant "Razdolnoye" in the country in the Kharkov region.

Today, "Razdolnoye" contains a livestock of 5.5 thousand geese, of which 600 are included in the breeding herd, making up the breeding core. The remaining birds are the forefather herd, which is obtained from the breeding one.

In its work, the company uses only fresh breeding material, which is in the breeder of the farm.

“Until 2006, when the national selection program for livestock breeding was being funded from the state budget, the enterprise received reimbursement of expenses incurred for maintaining the gene pool of large gray and large white geese. And also on the cultivation of breeding convention repair young animals for their own breeding base, ”said Ekaterina Kislaya, chief livestock specialist and breeder of the Razdolnoye breeding poultry farm.

Since the farm is no longer receiving support, it sells mainly not breeding, but hatching eggs. Due to low demand and the lack of proper state support, it is inappropriate to increase the number of thoroughbred geese, Ekaterina Kislaya summed up.
