White cabbage, which began to rise in price again three weeks ago, continues to grow in price. Now its cost in Ukrainian markets is 2.8 times more than a year ago, EastFruit analysts share information.

Experts explain this situation by the gradual depletion of vegetable stocks in households and agricultural enterprises. Currently, white cabbage is offered on the domestic market at a price of 13-15 UAH / kg, which is $ 0.49 - 0.56 / kg. This is about 12% more than last week. At the end of last week, the cost of cabbage was not higher than 13 UAH / kg, which is equivalent to $ 0.49.

The main factor in raising vegetable prices is a small supply of a quality product in the market and the ever-growing demand for it. A small amount of salable cabbage in the markets comes from crop failure and its inadequate quality, experts say.

According to market operators, there are currently only locally grown products sold in wholesale companies and retail chains. Exporters almost do not purchase this vegetable. Market participants predict a further rise in price for white cabbage, as farmers' reserves are becoming more depleted. The prices for cabbage are also growing in the world market. Earlier it was reported that young cabbage grown in the greenhouse by local producers will go to sale already at the end of March.
